Privacy

Reading Sagacraft collects nothing about you beyond what any web server records. There are no analytics, no advertising, no tracking cookies, and nothing loaded from other sites: the fonts, images and scripts all come from sagacraft.com. The only personal data kept here is the email address of readers who choose to subscribe.

Who is responsible

Sagacraft is a personal site run by Akis Tsekouras, who decides what is collected here and why (the data controller, in the words of the GDPR). For any question or request about your data, write to akis.tsekouras@sagacraft.com.

Reading the site

  • Server logs. Like any web server, the one that hosts sagacraft.com records each request: your IP address, the time, the page asked for and your browser. These records keep the site running and secure, which is a legitimate interest; they are not used for anything else and are kept only as long as that needs.
  • Light or dark page. If you press “Read on a light page” or “Read on a dark page”, your choice is saved in your own browser so the next page matches. It is never sent to the site. Clearing the site’s data in your browser removes it.
  • No cookies. Readers get no cookies. WordPress sets cookies only for the people who log in to edit the site.
  • No comments. The site does not take comments, so it collects no names or email addresses that way.

Email subscription

  • What is kept. Your email address, the date you signed up and the date you confirmed.
  • What for. To send you new essays as they are published, and a digest of notes once a week at most. Nothing else, and never anything from anyone else.
  • Legal basis. Your consent, which you give by confirming through the link in the first email. You can withdraw it at any time by unsubscribing.
  • How long. Until you unsubscribe: every email has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing deletes your address straight away. An address that is not confirmed within a week is deleted.
  • Who sees it. Only the site’s administrator. The list is kept on the server that hosts sagacraft.com, and the emails are sent from it. It is not shared, sold or handed to a mailing service.
  • Misuse limits. To stop the form from being abused, the site counts sign-ups from each network address and for each email address for one hour, under a one-way hash, and then forgets them.

If you would rather not give an email address, the RSS feed brings the same writing to any feed reader.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data held about you, have it corrected or deleted, restrict or object to its use, and withdraw your consent at any time. Write to the address above and you will get an answer within a month. You can also complain to the data protection authority where you live or work.
